Together with parents, pupils and teachers we have created a Reading Spine for our school. These are texts that we love to read and want to share as 'top reads' for each year group.

The children were introduced to their Reading Spine texts in the run up to World Book Day. Each class was delivered to gift of a set of books to unwrap as a class. These were placed in each class as a surprise for the children to discover when they visited their Book Corner.

Each class then explored these texts during their Guided Reading sessions that week. The aim of this approach was to formally launch the book spine to each year group and create a buzz around their new texts.
